Cindy-Lee Davies started her homewares business Lightly in 2005, inspired by the relationship between herself and her grandmother, Rosemary Lightly. She named her business after her much loved grandparent, inspired by her Rosemary’s influential and exceptional taste. More than decade has passed since then, but Cindy-Lee’s motivations are the same – to be continually inspired by the friendships and professional relationships she has made along the way. ‘Relationships are the foundation of the business’ Cindy-Lee says.
The first of Lightly’s Spring/Summer collection Cinnamon has just launched, and it seems Cindy-Lee is onto another winner! The collection comprises an extensive series of 35 new pieces for the home, including ceramic planters, tabletop items, soft furnishings and even lighting and occasional furniture. Unlike previous Lightly collections that celebrate key materials, this season is all about form and colour. Cindy-Lee says of the Cinnamon collection, ‘it really brings to life the colours of the desert, architecture and landscapes that have inspired me from yearly trips to India.’
A highlight in this collection is the ‘Pinocchio’ light, which has been in development since 2010, and is a product which Cindy-Lee is thrilled finally to have out into the world. bringing a human narrative into the collection, this light references the classic story – ‘the playful puppet’s curious personality and distinct nose are brought to life with stick legs and an oversized cone’ mentions Cindy-Lee.
The full ‘Cinnamon’ by Lightly range will be arriving over the next two months. Pre-orders are available online now, or at Lightly’s studio and shop – 3 Glasshouse road, Collingwood.
