Craft Summer 16/17 x The Robin Boyd Foundation

Today we share Craft’s annual Summer catalogue, which is their edit and showcase of the very best in local craft and design!

This year’s campaign imagery sparked our interest, having been captured by local photographer Lauren Bamford and stylist Stephanie Stamatis, on location at Robin Boyd’s iconic Walsh St Residence!  An inspired intersection of time-honoured Australian architecture and a new generation of Australian design.

It’s only 5 days until Christmas, not that you needed reminding. There’s tinsel in the streets, Michael Buble songs on the radio, and an unattempted Nigella Lawson pudding recipe stuck on the fridge. In between all of this, there’s still shopping that needs to happen, which is why we really love to seek out local shops that offer enough variety to tick off multiple Kriskringle obligations in one hit. One of those shops that never fails to deliver during the silly season is Craft.

Stocking a wide range of handcrafted wares by our favourite local creatives, designers and makers, Craft is a one stop shop when it comes to shopping locally this Christmas. Each year Craft captures its edit of handcrafted homewares, jewellery and accessories with an annual catalogue, released just in time for Christmas. This year, they’ve captured a uniquely Australian design sensibility, with Robin Boyd’s iconic Walsh St residence as a backdrop.

The Craft team worked alongside photographer Lauren Bamford and stylist Stephanie Stamatis to bring their photo series to life at Walsh St. Craft’s Retail, Commissions and Development Manager Sarah Weston says the site was chosen because they wanted to honour one of Australia’s greatest architects, while also ‘making reference to Boyd’s ethos of good design as being something which is for everyone.’

‘Our role is to support, celebrate and communicate Australian craft and design through our stores, festivals, exhibitions and public programs’ Sarah elaborates. ‘We believe, like so many of you, that supporting and collecting thoughtfully made and sustainably produced Craft is for everyone.’

Craft’s Summer Catalogue is interactive – all items featured are shoppable online here.
