Duzenman

Way back in 2015 we first introduced Du Zen – a Melbourne based leather accessories label, founded by local industrial designer Samantha Duzenman.

Two years on, Du Zen has grown and morphed – now known as Duzenman, the label is run as a partnership between Sam and her husband Adam Rogers.

The pair opened their first bricks and mortar store just last month in Melbourne’s Armadale, with a new offering – on the spot customisation!

With a background designing both homewares and furniture, in 2012
industrial designer Samantha Duzenman first began thinking about creating her own label. From the very start, she always imagined creating a product that could be personalised by the purchaser.

‘As someone who changes their mind and outfits a lot (!), I believe that customisation should mean more than choosing the colour of your bag, and embossing a monogram on the front in big bold letters’ Samantha says. Her goal with Duzenman , therefore, has been to offer the opportunity to mix and match different interchangeable elements that are removable – so you can build your own bag according to very specific requirements.

After starting as a predominantly online business, this month Duzenman are thrilled to open their first bricks and mortar store, in Melbourne’s Armadale! Having a physical store has been a huge leap for the brand, and especially necessary given their launch into customisation.

At the new store, customers are invited design their own bag on the spot, by choosing the body of the bag, an add on pouch and multiple styles of straps. And if that’s not ‘personalised’ enough for you – Duzenman also offer a fully made-to-order service, where any style in the collection can be made in any colour combination, with a super speedy turnaround time of 1-2 days.

‘We have been very fortunate to come across some super talented leather craftswomen who have been trained all around the world. Every element in the collection is meticulously hand-crafted by them in our own atelier’ Samantha explains.

Looking ahead, Samantha is excited about launching a new series of interactive workshops soon at Duzenman, where the brand’s master artisans will be sharing their skills in leatherwork, embroidery, accessory design and more.
