Though typically known for their clean lines and sleek, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic, this month Sydney furniture brand Totem Road joins forces with renowned fashion stylist, Bettina McIlwraith. for a more maximalist approach!
Known for her passion for bold colour and pattern (as seen on her vibrant instagram account!) Bettina has curated an installation of eclectic art and objects from Australia and abroad, presented at Totem Road’s flagship store in Paddington, Sydney.
Having worked as a stylist for luxury clients across the globe, Bettina’s distinctive aesthetic has been described as ‘multicultural maximalism’ – the culmination of years of travel and an intuitive ‘bower bird’ approach.
‘Bettina McIlwraith was the perfect choice for this first styling collaboration’ says Totem Road founder, Don Garvan. ‘She has a radical and unique style that makes for unexpected juxtaposition with Totem Road’s classic pieces.’
Bettina has created two distinct styling concepts in the Totem Road showroom – a studio apartment and a dining room – each incorporating bespoke artworks and limited-edition handcrafted pieces by 30 guest designers including Camille Walala, Arthur Seigneur, Claire Johnson, Emily Besser, Sally Campbell and many more. All are available to purchase exclusively in store.
As part of the Curated X program, Totem Road will also host a series of weekend workshops and talks with the participating collaborators for the duration of their residencies.
