‘The new store was supposed to be a temporary Christmas Salon for three days’, Lucy Folk tells us, ‘but due to the demand and feedback, we’re extending until Christmas, with plans for something more permanent next year. It’s our biggest space yet!’
The impressive showroom and HQ is a bit of a family affair. Lucy shares the space with her Dad (hospitality legend Pitzy Folk of CAPI) who initiated the idea, and designed his new premises to accommodate Lucy’s business, as well as other likeminded start-ups.
Lucy worked with long-time creative collaborators Tamsin Johnson and Fred Ganim to bring her distinctive magic to this space. ‘Tamsin gets it. Full stop. I adore her and her vision; there is a lot of wonderful energy that one encounters in the space,’ says Lucy, ‘The pink suspension shelving and jewellery benches were custom built by Fred Ganim. He’s a genius!’
Lucy Folk HQ is as functional as it is beautiful (VERY!). It’s a bright, breezy open plan space – jewellery making happens right alongside sales, admin and everything else. ‘The goldsmith workstations are top-notch, I wanted them to have a first-class station,’ explains Lucy, ‘metal walls separate the jewellers from the rest of us, who spend most of the day looking at screens or packing boxes!’
As for the Paris move? It kind of just made sense. ‘It makes it easier for me to focus on the apparel collection and eyewear programs,’ Lucy explains, ‘as well as channeling my European roots and eating too much cheese, but having a damn good time!’
After all, if there’s one thing you need to know about the talented Folk family, it’s that they like to work hard, but also have a good time! ‘When you realise you are at work more than home, you want to make work special’ Lucy says.
