Collingwood-based artist Stephen Baker has added a new panel to his beloved mural, Pool Parade, emblasoned on the Fitzroy Pool.
Designed as a visual welcome message to all pool-goers, Stephen ‘wanted to depict a small section of the pool showing people swimming and the sun baking step area – something that would give a snapshot of the facilities’. The two figures either side represent patrons of the pool, and ‘kind of remind me of the Sphinx Gates in The NeverEnding Story, I always liked how epic that scene was,’ he elaborates.
Stephen also added a new lick of paint to the original Pool Parade design which he first completed in December of 2013.
Despite the groundskeepers accidentally disposing of his paint tins on the day he was due to finish this new mural (!!), all was completed on schedule!
