Architecture Architecture stole the show at this year’s ArchiTeam Awards, taking out three categories – two for their project Dark Horse, including the coveted ArchiTeam Medal, and a Small Project Medal commendation for their project Together Apart.
Dark Horse is a ‘rich and varied project’ that unfolds into a series of compelling spaces. The home’s unassuming street elevation connects seamlessly into the adjoining worker’s cottage.
Fitzroy-based Architecture Architecture were also joint winners of the Residential New category, alongside po-co Architecture. The latter firm’s ‘Tess and JJ’s House’ was noted by the judges for its remarkable light-filled double height volume at the centre of its design.
Light Corridor House, a worker’s cottage extension with a modest budget project on a tight heritage site in Cremorne, by FIGR Architecture Studio, won the Residential Alterations and Additions section, and their project Datum House won a commendation in the Residential New category.
Other highlights included Richmond Hill, six townhouses by Melbourne Design Studios, which took out the Sustainability Medal, and Cairo Studio by Nicholas Agius Architects, which was awarded the Small Project Medal.
