Minimum Wines are locally made from organic Victorian grapes, and their bottles are a staple at Melbourne’s best restaurants and events — whether that’s a Saturday night house party or a special dinner at Marion.

Lead by couple Matt and Lentil Purbrick, and friend Mat Bate, Minimum are all about making high-quality, low-volume wines, and their new Del Popolo range is especially designed to be enjoyed on those ‘everyday’ occasions at home.

The team says the Del Popolo wines (meaning ‘for the people’) are those ‘always there’ kind of bottles that are uncomplicated, affordable and delicious.

They took inspiration for the new drops from house wines found in a little corner store of Matt’s family’s Italian village (where people indulge in the daily ritual of breaking bread and share a bottle with loved ones). The labels on the bottles even feature an endearing graphic of a classic family-style table setting, featuring a checked tablecloth complete with a full glass of wine.

This no-fuss ethos also extends to the range’s pricing, with the 2022 Bianco and 2021 Rosso just $22 a bottle, and $21 for the 2022 Rosé. Matt says this was a deliberate response to our current economy, where prices seem ‘like they’re going up for everything’.

‘Minimum is doing the opposite, with the range priced very nicely, but exactly the same quality as you are used to from us,’ he adds.

‘We had a bit of extra wine from the last vintages that deserved to see bottles, and we’re super excited to finally see these wines out in the world!’

Minimum Wines’ Del Popolo range is available now here.
